Sigma Pi Theta’s HerStory Month

 In Spring 2019, as Marketing Chair of my local social sorority Sigma Pi Theta, I was responsible for our HerStory Month campaign’s digital reach. I created a Facebook event for HerStory month with a detailed schedule, including dates and times for the various events we put on throughout the month, and information on HerStory Month’s mission. The Facebook event is where I mainly posted important updates and maintained communication with event goers.

Below are different frames that our graphic artist designed for Instagram stories. This allowed all sorority members to be able to share the event on their personal stories and also promoted engagement by re-sharing different users’ frames on Sigma Pi Theta’s Instagram story.

I was responsible for putting together the Healthy Hookups workshop. I did research to find a speaker who could give a talk on consent and sexual empowerment in front of college-age women. My role also involved coordinating a time and location for the event, as well as negotiating a price for the speaker.

As part of HerStory Month, we also organized a photoshoot featuring female Emerson students dressed as different historical women. I was responsible for posting a new photo every day of the month, which included info on each historical woman’s background, as well as the name of the person portraying her, and credit to the photographer. This generated a lot of interest on Instagram and Facebook as people began to look forward to seeing a new historical woman featured every day. It also helped to get more eyes on our social media and raised awareness for HerStory Month’s mission.
